Scrap a Coil for Epilepsy

Loeffel Steel Products, Barrington, IL, has created an innovative way to raise funds for pediatric epilepsy research. The company is preparing a "Scrap a Coil for Epilepsy" promotion for this spring.

Seeking help from suppliers, customers, metals processors, coil coaters, fabricators, scrap companies and service centers, Loeffel is asking for pledges ranging from one coil of steel, a hopper of scrap metal (bundles), or a week or a full month of produced scrap. The tax deductible amount of the donation will be the original value of the material, not just the scrap value.

"Donations can be made throughout the year. It's really open ended but the big push will basically be in April, May and June," Tim Loeffel, vice president and director of purchasing.

Now in its fifth year, the campaign will benefit CURE, Citizens United For Research in Epilepsy. The pledge program is held in conjunction with the Loeffel Epilepsy Foundation's 22nd annual charity golf outing on June 17 in Lake Geneva, WI.

We are asking you to pledge your production scrap to raise funds for the Loeffel Epilepsy Foundation. You may pledge anything from one coil of steel, a hopper of scrap metal (bundles), or a week or a full month of your produced scrap.

Donors can either write a check for the amount pledged, payable to Loeffel Epilepsy Foundation, P.O. Box 2100, Barrington, IL, 60011, or Loeffel will invoice donor's pledges. Anyone interested in learning more about donating or to obtain a form, contact Tim Loeffel or Mike Smyk at (847) 382-6770.

It’s easy. All you need to do is make a pledge on the form below by donating a weight amount or time frame. Next, you may write the check for the amount pledged payable to the Loeffel Epilepsy Foundation at the address below, or simply return the form and we will invoice you for the amount pledged. Not only are you making a major impact with your donation of which 100% will go toward epilepsy research programs, but the tax-deductible portion of your donation will be the original value of material, not just the scrap value.
